Governor of Turkish Central Bank removed from role

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan dismissed the Central Bank Governor Murat Çetinkaya.

Murat Uysal, the deputy of the bank, was appointed with the presidential decision.

Murat Çetinkaya, who was dismissed, had about 10 months to end his term.

In a statement Saturday, the central bank said it will continue to operate independently and that the new governor will focus on maintaining price stability as its key goal.
