Hamas congratulates Taliban on its victory against US forces

​Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Saturday spoke over the phone with Afghan foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and reiterated his congratulations on the great victory of Taliban and the Afghan people against the American occupation.

According to a statement released by his office, Haneyya expressed his Movement’s hope that Taliban and its government could have a role in supporting the Palestinian people in their struggle to liberate their land and Jerusalem from the occupation.

“The Taliban Movement’s victory over the American occupation in Afghanistan confirms the nation’s ability to liberate its homelands from occupying and invading forces,” the Hamas leader said.

He also applauded Taliban for wisely and affectively leading and running the country during and after its liberation from the occupation, stressing the importance of being open to all the Afghan parties, especially those who have Islamic projects.

He called for necessarily making Palestine present in the Afghan foreign ministry’s speeches and addresses, especially with regard to Jerusalem and the israeli violations happening in this holy city.

For his part, minister Muttaqi expressed his tanks for Haneyya’s call and his pride in the Palestinian people’s struggle and steadfastness in Jerusalem and its environs.
