Headscarves to be banned in schools in the Flemish region

Parties agreed to form government in Belgium's Dutch-speaking Flemish region agreed to ban clothing containing religious symbols in schools.

The coalition protocol says" religious neutrality will be introduced for teachers and students."

According to the agreement, the government will ban the use of religious symbols such as headscarves and kipa in schools.

In some places in Belgium, there is still a ban on headscarves.

In Antwerp, Belgium's second-largest city, a ban on headscarves has been imposed in schools for 10 years.
