HUDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu explained the highly anticipated referendum decisions. Yapıcıoğlu stated that the party's preferences in the referendum will be yes, in the press statement made in the headquarters building.
Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, who stated that they would vote "yes" about the amendment of the constitution which will be presented to the people on April 16, used the following statements in the statement made in HUDA PAR General Headquarters in Ankara:
"As you are familiar, Turkiye will go to the polls to vote on the amendment of the Constitution on April 16. As the proposed amendment to the Constitution cannot be found in the parliamentary 367, a referendum will be obligatory. When the Constitutional amendment was discussed in the commission and the general assembly of the parliament, there were tensions and images that we did not want to see emerged. The parliamentary phase of the change has been left behind, and it has come to say the people who are the true owners of the work."
Stating that everyone should respect the choices of the people, Yapıcıoğlu stated that those who say "yes" and “no” have different reasons, and he continued as follows:
"I must immediately state that we are uncomfortable with the images that appear in the commission and in the general assembly of the parliament. I must now state that we are mistaken in trying to reconstruct the same tension everybody should respect the choice of the people and nobody should see the right to blame those who do not think like him as treason. It is necessary to ignore that there may be different reasons for each of yes and no voters.
"It's a whole new constitution to build"
Constitutional changes are never enough, the people's expectation is a new constitution, emphasizing that Yapıcıoğlu, said:
"Constitutions are reconciliation texts embodied in the direction of societal demands and needs. This requires that constitutions, which are the most important legal and political documents, be made with a participatory approach that is not imposed or imputed. It is obvious that the Constitution of 1982 does not have the qualifications specified. This Constitution which carry all coup understanding negativeness is still the main reason for the crises and problems that exist in every area. Although many partial changes are made in different histories which not resulted as it was desired. The partial changes that are made whatever it scope is never satisfied the need for a new Constitution. All the thing to do is to a new constitution, and it is the expectation and demand of our people.”
"We declare our choice in the referendum as "yes"
Stating that the changes to be made would be a step for a completely new, civilian constitution with incomplete and inadequate finds, Yapıcıoğlu explained the decisions in the referendum as follows:
"We argue from the outset that it is imperative that a completely new constitution be made in the framework of the principles of our party program with as much participation and compromise as possible. But considering the current political and social circumstances it is not too easy to make it in the short term. We declare our preference in the referendum as "yes" with the idea that it is a step for a completely new, civilian constitution."
All parties must be discreet
Yapıcıoğlu, who was in the process of calling for common sense in all parties in the referendum process, said that "While the coup constitution still protect its basic philosophy and institutions, the change of the government system will not be enough to heal all problems. In the process of referendum, we are also in the call of our people, and all sides to act discreetly in this process of campaigning, stating that the attitudes in the style of preparing a ground for a new social camouflage and conflict are not in the interest of our people.” (ILKHA)
