Human bones unearthed during excavation

Bones belong to human skeleton unearthed during the excavation for the power line to be laid underground in the district of Kızıltepe of Mardin.

The human skull and bones unearthed during the excavation for the electric power line to be laid under the Sanliurfa Street, one of the busiest streets in the town center of Kızıltepe.

After the natural gas operation started and finished about a month ago in the Şanlıurfa Street in the district center, excavations were started for electrical works. In the excavation work that was done on Tuesday, skulls and bones of human were found.

Excavation work was initiated under the guidance of Kızıltepe Public Prosecutor's Office upon finding the bones. The teams of the District Police Department pulled the security tape of the area where the bones were found.

While the work machine was being paused to remove the skeleton, specialist archaeologists were called to the scene. Excavation work is expected to continue under the supervision of archaeologists.
