Ibrahim Kalın: Safe Zone will serve to secure our borders

Regarding safe zone plans to be established in the north of Syria, Turkey's Presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalın said the safe zone will serve to secure Turkey's borders.

Stating that Turkey supports Syria's territorial integrity and political unity, Kalın noted that Turkey has no interest in the occupation or changing demographics.

"The PKK/YPG did that northeast Syria. Time to correct it. Turkey fights against a terrorist organization that has also killed and oppressed the Kurds," he wrote on Twitter.

"Safe zone will serve two purposes: secure Turkey’s borders by eliminating terrorist elements and allow refugees to return to their homes," he underlined.

Kalın also added that Turkey will also continue to fight against DAESH and will not allow it to return in any shape and form.
