Democratic Party of Texas Congress member Al Green has been threatened with death, saying that US President Donald Trump should be dismissed on grounds of obstruction of justice.
Al Green, who recorded the death threats and racist attacks he received over the phone and listened to the attendees at the municipal convention in Houston, said he saw what they were fighting in America.
The following threat messages from Green's phone records cautioned:
“You ain’t going to impeach nobody. Try it and we will lynch all of you. You'll be hanging from a tree. If there is an impeachment it will be you. There will be a short trial before hanging you.”
Saying he will not give in to the threats, Green also said he received a lot of support phones.
“I rise today, Mr. Speaker, to call for the impeachment of the president of the United States of America for obstruction of justice,” Green said on the House floor on Wednesday. “I do it because, Mr. Speaker, there is a belief in this country that no one is above the law. And that includes the president of the United States of America. Mr. Speaker, our democracy is at risk.” (Mustafa Kaynak - ILKHA)
