Speaking at the TÜBA Awards Ceremony, President Erdoğan said, "At every opportunity, those who say ‘Islam is an obstacle for the development’ directly or indirectly, they never bring samples that is to say, ‘Islam is the main for the development’, that this in our history.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the ceremony of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Awards, which was held under the auspices of the Presidency.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Erdoğan expressed his heartfelt congratulations to all the scientists who won the Turkish Academy of Sciences awards.
President Erdoğan noted that 31 scientists from various branches of science were awarded under the 2016 Young Scientists Award Program.
“Countries’ and societies’ understanding of security has changed radically. In the past, the concept of security was perceived as protecting merely the borders and interests. Now, it has expanded to include threats against all economic, social, cultural assets,” President Erdoğan said.

“Science bears importance for countries and nations not only because of its concrete outputs but also because of the change, transformation and enlightenment it leads to in minds,” the President said, and further stated: “When we look at the turbulences instabilities in our history, we see that ignorance, scientific backwardness and cultural degeneration lies behind them all.”
“The Assassins, who struck at the heart of the Seljuk, exploited this void. The same plight lies beneath many problems that troubled the Ottomans,” President Erdoğan said.
“We are also struggling with the same problem today,” President Erdoğan said, and added, “The evil network, called the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), took advantage of such shortcomings while exploiting our people’s sensitivities toward education and charity. Academics, members of the judiciary, policemen, soldiers, teachers, and businessmen in this organization may have been educated well, graduated from fancy schools. However, this does not change their blindness and ignorance in the face of the truth and the fact that they followed a charlatan.”

Erdoğan emphasized that the concepts of "adoration" and "Godhead" are very important in Islamic religion, "We, as God, have never known a power other than Allah, we cannot. This is one of the most important titles of our beliefs and faith. Another significant title is adoration. We cannot become servants to another power and we can’t. But if you come and give these two important faith to Pennsylvania, which means that there is everything in it. What Allah said to us in the Qur'an many times and warning ‘Do you not conceive’, ‘Do you not think’. But what they say is that they say, 'Do not conceive, do not think, do what you are told to do.'
