Justice call made for Yusufi prisoners

Justice call made for the release of Yusufi [Islamic] prisoners in a press statement held in Adana, a Mediterranean province of Turkiye, by MAZLUMDER Adana Branch and Families' Initiative of People Victimized by Feb. 28 and FETO Judiciary.

Families' Initiative of People Victimized by Feb. 28 and FETO Judiciary held a press conference in Adana province together with MAZLUMDER [The Association for Human Rights and Solidarity for the Oppressed] Adana Branch, for the release of victims of Feb. 28 process and FETO judiciary. Call made for the release of Islamic prisoners who have been in jail for years due to their Islamic services.

The press release held following the Friday prayer in İnönü Park, which is located next to the Adana Courthouse. In addition with HUDA PAR Adana Provincial Organization, many NGOs supported the press statement.

Reading the press statement on behalf of MAZLUMDER, Şahin Doğan stated that they made regular press releases before prisons, courthouse, and squares throughout Turkiye for the freedom of victims of Feb. 28.

Feb. 28 prisoners were excluded in the amnesty or parole arrangements

Stating that they have always made a call for "28 February judicial decisions to be canceled and 28 February prisoners shall be released immediately!, Doğan underlined that "Except for a number of exceptions, any step on the subject was not taken, February 28 prisoners were excluded in the amnesty or conditional evacuation reductions regulations."

"Another year has passed while February 28 process is still crushing people, while the like of families of 20-25-years prisoners is very miserable on the roads, the children were forced to grow up without a father, and mothers were forced to maintain a life of longing for their children," said Doğan by drawing attention to the experienced grievances.

We would like the presumption of innocence to be abolished and the elimination of decisions

Reading press statement on behalf of "Initiative", lawyer Hakan Özbay stated that this is the last press statement in 2018 but they will continue to hold press releases every week in 2019.

"We would like to begin with our wish to have the final press release, which resulted in the fact that our Yusufis have attained freedom in return for our oppressed shouts," said Özbay.

"We now want to witness the release of Islamic prisoners like the liberation of a pigeon, who have been suffering in jail for 8,762 days and slandered. We now want the judicial process to make the decision on 'what is the crime' instead of asking 'who is the accused one'", added Özbay.

Özbay underlined that they demand the elimination of the decisions made by ignoring the rules of the universal law.

”Like Yusuf, they want to bear witness on which side their shirts are torn“

"This is not a demand for forgiveness, but a demand for a fair trial," noted Özbay and added: "Provide at least this right to those who have spent their lives in prison for years! Whoever took the power of jurisdiction has laundered himself, has convicted the others."

Stating that the political judiciary has persecuted and sentenced religious people since the February 28 period, Özbay underscored: "It is clear today that the rights and the law have been trampled and thousands of religious people have been victimized by the FETO."

Drawing attention to the prisoners of Ergenekon and Balyoz cases, who were sentenced to life imprisonment were then acquitted through a retrial, Özbay said this revealed the plots of FETO and how they run the country.
