Missile attack hits US embassy in Baghdad

Three missiles hit US embassy in Baghdad on Wednesday, the local sources reported.

The attack took place several hours after President Donald Trump declared that Iran appeared to be standing down from military conflict with the U.S.

No casualties were reported after warning sirens went off in the middle of Iraq's heavily fortified capital.

The U.S. and Iran nearly entered into an open conflict on 8 January 2020 when the IRGC launched missile attack against two Iraqi military bases housing U.S. soldiers in retaliation for the killing of Soleimani, a rare direct Iran-U.S. confrontation and the closest to the brink of war between the 2 nations in decades.
