Muslim-owned organizations to be closed in Austria

The Austrian National Assembly passed a motion calling for the closure of associations belonging to the Union of Turkish-Islamic Cultural Association in Europe [ATIB] and the Milli Görüş [National Vision Movement].

The motion used the phrase "Islamic associations" for Muslim organizations, while the associations affiliated to ATIB and the National Vision Movement were asked to be inspected and closed if any criminal elements were detected.

The motion, which is a recommendation to the current government, does not have any sanctioning power.

The Assembly also discussed a motion to abolish the Neo-Nazi Identities Movement.

The motion to shut down the movement, which has links to the Australian terrorist who carried out attacks against Muslims and martyred 51 Muslims in New Zealand, was not passed in parliament.
