No development in Syria and Iraq is independent of Turkiye

Speaking at AK Party’s parliamentary group meeting, President Erdoğan, said: “No development in Syria and Iraq can be considered independent of Turkey. Quite the contrary, they are directly related to our nation’s internal affairs.”

Referring to the referendum in northern Iraq, President Erdogan and AK Party leader Erdoğan talked about the referendum in Northern Iraq, saying: “I would like to note once again: No development in Syria and Iraq can be considered independent of Turkey. Quite the contrary, they are directly related to our nation’s internal affairs. Therefore, no one is entitled to say us ‘Why do you concern yourselves with Iraq or Syria?’”

Wishing Allah’s mercy upon the Turks who lost their lives in the arson incident in France, President Erdoğan, with regard to the massacre in Las Vegas which left over 59 people dead and hundreds more wounded, stated that he had conveyed his condolences to U.S. President Trump, and added: “We told them that whatever our stance on this kind of incidents has been so far, we maintain it from now on as well.”

“A number of highly critical developments with the potential to shape the next century are taking place in our region. Turkey, with its geography and people, lies at the heart of those developments,” President Erdoğan underlined and continued: “Countless attempts have been made throughout a thousand years to eradicate us from this geography. As you see, we, as the state and the people, still stand upright and are the most important power of the region.”

President Erdoğan said: “Yet, those, who threaten and seek to bury us and, taking advantage of such periods of crisis, attempt to stab us in the back have completely fallen into oblivion and will never be remembered again on these lands. It is our duty to show those who make efforts contrary to this what our people are capable of doing for their independence and future.”

Noting that new walls are tried to be put up in front of Turkey through the developments in Syria and Iraq, President Erdoğan said: “I would like to note once again: No development in Syria and Iraq can be considered independent of Turkey. Quite the contrary, they are directly related to our nation’s internal affairs. Therefore, no one is entitled to say us ‘Why do you concern yourselves with Iraq or Syria?’ Rest assured that we will overcome the implications of the crises in Syria and Iraq for our country together with our people as has been the case with every other issue so far.”
