NSC statement: A terrorist army will not be allowed right beside its border

Important messages were given after the meeting of the National Security Council held in the Presidency Complex chaired by President Erdoğan.

A written statement issued after the National Security Council (NSC) gathered under the presidency of Presidential Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the Presidency Complex.

In the written statement issued after the meeting, it was stated that international matters which concern Turkiye closely as well as the internal and external developments that affect the security and safety of the country were discussed and that all aspects of the fight against terror were reviewed during the meeting.

Noting that the measures proposed by the Council and taken within the boundaries of the law against the threats to the national security of Turkiye, particularly the activities of the terrorist organizations, were addressed, the statement indicated that the struggle maintained at home and abroad with resolve and determination to end terrorism was also evaluated in a comprehensive manner.

The statement said: "Because the de facto fight against DAESH in Syria has been completed to a large extent, it was strongly emphasized that the guns, vehicles, and equipment was given to the PKK/PYD-YPG terrorist organization should be taken back without any delay. It was stated that Turkiye shall not allow the formation of a terror corridor or the establishment of a terrorist army right beside its borders and that all necessary measures shall be taken regarding this issue. It was underlined that in order to consolidate our border security as well as to ensure the safety of life and property of our citizens and of the people of the region, the steps required for eliminating the threats to our country that originate from the west of Syria will immediately be taken with determination in the first stage."
