Number of poisoned drinking water in Iraq reached 111 thousand

In Basra city of Iraq, the number of people who were taken to the hospital because of polluted drinking water exceeded 111 thousand.

In Iraq, people are experiencing serious problems with clean drinking water, as well as basic problems such as unemployment, corruption, and electricity.

Human Right Basra Office announced that 111 thousand people were taken to hospitals due to unhealthy drinking water.

Many students have been poisoned after the opening of the schools said authorities, urged to the central and local governments to take serious steps.

Although the crisis continues for months, the solution is not produced yet noted UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in the city of Basra Mahdi at-Tamimi.

There is no healthy drinking water in Basra for months. People in the city say that so-called drinking water in some parts of the city is not different from the sewage water.

The Iraqi Ministry of Health claims that cases of intoxication have decreased compared to the previous month.
