Turkiye Statistical Institute [TUIK], labor force statistics for February, 2017 announced. According to this, the number of unemployed in 15 years of age and over in Turkiye increased by 676 thousand persons in February compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 3 million 900 thousand.
The unemployment rate was realized as 12.6 percent with an increase of 1.7 percentage points. In the same period, the non-agricultural unemployment rate was estimated at 14.8 percent with an increase of 2.1 percentage points.
The unemployment rate in the young population [15-24 years-old] was 23.3 percent with an increase of 4.7 percentage points. In the 15-64 age group this rate was realized as 12.9 percent with an increase of 1.8 percentage points.
