Over 11,000 returnees from abroad put in quarantine in Turkey

More than 11, 000 people have been put in quarantine in 36 student dormitories across 23 provinces, said Mehmet Kasapoglu, Turkey’s Youth and Sports Minister said in a statement on Twitter on Monday.

Turkish government has put over 11,000 returnees from abroad in quarantine in an effort to contain the coronavirus outbreak, which has so far killed more than 13,000 people around the world.

The coronavirus pandemic was confirmed to have spread to Turkey when its first case was officially confirmed on March 11.

The death toll has risen to 30 with a total of 1,236 confirmed cases.
