Police seize 800-year-old Bible

Turkish police seized 800-year-old historical Bible and a Hebrew-embroidered edict on leather in an operation in Diyarbakir, a province in the south-east of Turkey.

 

The Diyarbakir governor's Office said in a statement that the suspects were caught about to sell the historic book.

The governor office added that a Bible with a gold inscription on gazelle skin, 15 leaves and 30 pages, and an edict embroidered in Hebrew on leather were seized after search on and the place where the suspects reside.

The book seized in the operation has been kept, the statement said, and an investigation has been launched into 6 suspects involved in selling the historic book.
