Police seizes 106 kilograms of cannabis in northwestern Turkey

Turkish police seized 106 kilograms of skunk cannabis in an anti-smuggling operation in northwestern Turkey's Kocaeli province on Sunday.

The counter-narcotic branch of the Kocaeli Security Directorate stopped a van on the exit ramp of the Osmangazi Bridge in the Dilovası district.

After executing the search warrant, police seized 106 kilograms of skunk – a potent, crossbred strain of cannabis – in 27 bags found in the vehicle.

Three suspects were detained in relation to the drug smuggling incident.

Turkey maintains strict laws against the use, possession, or trafficking of illegal drugs. If convicted under these offenses, one could receive a heavy fine or a prison sentence of 4 to 24 years.
