President Erdoğan to involve in Akıncı Base case

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan demanded to take part in the case where 486 suspects are on trial for their activities at the Akıncı Base, known as the headquarters of the July 15 coup attempt.

The trial against 486 suspected related to the activities at Akıncı Base, known as the headquarters of the July 15 coup attempt, started at Ankara 4th High Criminal Court.

Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar's request to take part, in this case, followed a new development.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also asked to take part in the case.

Erdoğan's lawyer, Hüseyin Aydın, gave the petition for the request to take part in the case which was seen in the courtroom of Sincan Prison.

Reminded in the petition that according to the 104th article of the Constitution, the president is the head of the state, “The President of the Republic of Turkiye, has demanded to take part in the case in the scope of the July 15 coup attempt, and the crimes committed against the Turkish nation represented by the Presidency.”
