President of Religious Affairs Mehmet Görmez's retirement petition was accepted.

President of Religious Affairs Mehmet Görmez's retirement petition was accepted. It was announced that instead of Görmez, the pensioner will be replaced by Ekrem Keleş, the President of the Higher Council of Religious Affairs.

According to the information, the request of the “retirement” of the Director of Religious Affairs, Mehmet Görmez, was accepted by the Prime Ministry.

It was learned that Ekrem Keleş, chairman of the Supreme Council of Religious Affairs, will continue the duty by proxy.

Who is Ekrem Keleş?

Born in 1958 in Konya-Seydişehir, Ekrem Keleş completed Konya Imam-Hatip Lisesi in 1977 and Konya High Islam Institute in 1981. In 1985, completed the 4th Term Specialized Course for Admissions and Ecclesiastes in the Haseki Training Center. In 1988, he completed his master's degree at Marmara University, Faculty of Theology. In 1994 “Icma as Source Law of Islam” about completing his doctorate at Ankara University, Keleş became a specialist in Religious Affairs Supreme Council in 1985-2005. He was elected as a member of High Council of Religious Affairs in 29.08.2008 and was brought to the Vice Chairperson of the Board.
