Prisoners escape from jail in Baghdad

Fifteen prisoners convicted of drug offenses have escaped from the prison in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq.

Prisoners reportedly escaped from Elkanat prison, where they were being held, during food distribution.

Nine of the prisoners were captured while operations were reportedly underway to apprehend other escaped prisoners.

Senior police chiefs have been dismissed for breach of duty following the incident.
