Qatar sends humanitarian aid to Iran to fight coronavirus

Qatar has sent humanitarian aid to Iran to fight coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, on Friday.

Following a telephone conversation between Hassan Rouhani, the Iranian president with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, a Qatari airplane carrying Qatar government humanitarian aid left Doha for Tehran on Friday.

The first cargo of humanitarian aid of Qatari government amounted to about 5.5 tons of medical and sanitary items, the reports said.

The humanitarian aid will be supplied to the Ministry of Health and Medical Education and Coronavirus Combat and Prevention Headquarters for distributing in healthcare centers and hospitals in the country.

As of Saturday, the number of confirmed cases infected with the COVID-19 in Iran has climbed to 12,729, claiming 611 lives.
