Ramadan's Taraweeh prayers banned in Turkey mosques amid coronavirus fears

The President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş has announced that performing Taraweeh prayers in mosques will be banned during Ramadan this year, in a bid to help fight the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

“We will pray the Taraweeh at homes to exercise caution as we, along with the entire world, are facing a dangerous pandemic,” Erbaş said.

Turkey has so far reported 3,529,601 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 32,456 deaths and 3,130,977 recoveries.
