Referendum celebrations started early

People of Erbil started celebrating before the referendum that planned to be held on September 25th in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.

While the tension continues in the Iraq Kurdistan Region for the referendum that planned to be held on Monday, September 25, public celebrations began in Erbil (Hewlêr). Images reflected on the cameras of ILKHA, people from 7 to 70 were seen in the streets for celebration.

The people of Erbil, who have toured in the city with their vehicles in the evening, stated that they celebration the referendum and becoming a state.

The people, who make up the long vehicle queues of Erbil's main streets, are demonstrating with the flag of Kurdistan. Crowds gathered at many points of the city, are showing joy with fireworks and car horns.

On the other hand, the National Security Council, headed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, reported that the referendum planned to be held in Iraqi Kurdistan should be abandoned. Iraqi Kurdistan Regional President Masoud has also stated that “it is too late to postpone the referendum”.
