Roads to 242 settlements closed due to snow in east of Turkiye

Due to the heavy snowfall in the Eastern Anatolia Region, roads to 242 settlements were closed, and cars crashed in many places due to heavy rain and fog.

The eastern Anatolia region has been influenced by heavy snowfall. Roads to dozens residential units were closed in Bitlis, an eastern province of Turkiye, due to effective snowfall on Monday. While the effective snowfall closed roads to 130 villages in Bitlis, it has also closed roads in other provinces such as Muş and Van.

At least 139 village roads are closed to transportation in Bitlis said Special Administration Road and Transportation Services Director Ümit Kurtkan. He also added that works continue for opening those roads.

On the other hand, municipal teams are fighting snow in Bitlis city center for opening man arteries.

According to the statement made by Van Metropolitan Municipality, roads to 4 villages in Gürpınar district were closed to transportation due to heavy snowfall. It was also reported that schools in Bahçesaray district of Van are off for one day for heavy snowfall.

Due to the heavy snow that was effective in Muş, 100 village roads closed to transportation. The General Secretary of the Special Provincial Administration Şeymus Yentür said in a statement that the anti-snow squad teams have started to work round the clock to open the closed roads.
