Safitürk case: A person sentenced to life imprisonment

The verdict of the trial announced by the court, where 15 defendants were tried in the case allegedly murdering Mardin's Derik District Governor and Deputy Mayor Muhammed Fatih Safitürk.

In the hearing at the Mardin 3rd High Criminal Court, former chief of District Governor's Clerk Şerif Mesutoğlu was sentenced to 28 years of aggravated life imprisonment for 2 times.

Former Editor-in-Chief Tahsin Erdaş has sentenced 1-year imprisonment on charges of "opposing article 12 of Law No. 6136" and 2 other defendants were sentenced to 5 years imprisonment on the same offense.

The murder of District Governor Safitürk

Muhammad Fatih Safitürk, who was appointed as deputy mayor of Derik district by the Ministry of Interior has lost his life in the attack carried out by the PKK on 10 November 2016 in Derik district of Mardin Province, died on 11 November 2016 in the hospital.
