Soldiers besieging Siirt Governor in the coup attempt appear in the court

The first trial of the case against the 320 former soldiers trying to besiege the Siirt Governorate during FETO's 15 July coup attempt began.

The first hearing of the case against the 320 former soldiers trying to siege the Siirt Governorate during the coup attempt of FETO on July 15, 2016, started in the conference room of the Siirt University Central Campus.

The defendants which had the first time trial in the university campus due to inadequacy in the courthouse courtyards were brought under extensive security measures.

Some citizens were saying slogans “We want executive for them” during the arrival of defendants. There was a controversy among the relatives of the putschists and the citizens reacting to the defendants.

In the case where 320 soldiers were detained, there are names like the former Siirt III Commando Brigade Commander Brigadier General Ahmet Şimşek, Assistant Colonel Alican Erkilitlioğlu, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Deputy Colonel Necati Metin and Eruh 2 Commando Battalion Commander Colonel İsmet Cehreli.
