Statement of the Turkish General Staff on Idlib

The statement made by the General Staff Office reportedly began exploration activities in Idlib as of October 8th.

An explanation came from the General Staff for the operation launched the day before in Syrian’s Idlib.

“The Astana Process has been initiated in Turkiye, the Russian Federation and Iran guaranteeing for the continuation of the ceasefire regime announced in Syria on December 30, 2016. Within the scope of the process, ‘Tension Reduction Zones / de-escalation Zones” have been identified in Syria to provide favorable conditions in enhance the effectiveness of the ceasefire regime, ending conflicts, delivering humanitarian aid to needy people, the return of those who are displaced to their homes and to support the establishment of favorable conditions for the settlement of the conflict through peaceful means.”
