Summer Qur'an courses continue with all their beauty

Thousands of students are participating summer Qur'an courses in Turkiye’s Diyarbakır that started by Directorate of Religious Affairs with the slogan “Let's meet the Qur'an on the Qur'an’s month.”

Thousands of students participate in Diyarbakır's summer Qur'an courses, which was initiated by the Presidency of Religious Affairs [DIB] with the slogan “Let's meet the Qur'an on the Qur'an’s month” that left two periods behind and now on the third period.

Thousands of children who flock to summer Qur’an courses after schools went on holiday, learning basic religious information of Islam, learning the Qur'an and do several of activities.

Diyarbakır Provincial Mufti Burhan İşliyen said that the summer Qur'an courses, which began on June 12th, coincided with the Ramadan month and that the children's knowledge of the Qur'an was stronger than in previous years.

Reminding that the Summer Qur'an courses will end as of Friday, August 18, İşliyen said, “After that, Eid will come together and our children will have the opportunity to have a holiday. Our courses last year were attended by about 55 thousand of girls and boys. This year we have nearly 9 thousand increase. Around 32 thousand of them are boys and 32 of them are girl students, our girls are taught by our female instructors who are mostly honorary in our Qur'an courses. Our boy students are given lessons by our male students.”

“We have a curriculum together with the name summer course. We have summer course books printed by our Presidency of Religious Affairs, in which, not only the Qur'anic knowledge is included in these books. In these books, we have the opportunity to participate in activities that they prefer on certain days of the week. We have lessons for cleaning, teaching ablution, prayer, Qur’an, hajj, and zakat, etc. We have lessons about the life of our Prophet (PBUH), the daily etiquette, the patterns of behavior, the Prophet's Sunnah. We have protocols that we have signed with the directorates of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. We have no choice but to have the summer courses become a center of attraction. Our children prefer these courses on certain days of the week. They have the opportunity to participate in activities.”

“Summer Qur'an course is very useful for students”

Emrullah Başer, a teacher of summer Qur'an course at Ali Mosque in Diyarbakır’s Kayapınar, said that he gave lessons about 35-40 students and said, “We teach Qur'an lessons in the mosque every day. Summer Qur'an course does not only consist of Qur'an. But we are here to tell our students how they will behave in the social life. Our goal is to make them individuals who are useful to society. Summer Qur’an courses are very useful for students. We organize swimming and soccer tournaments and similar sports activities in order to warm our students to the mosque. Qur’an means everything.”
