Syria: ENKS office in Darbasiyah attacked with grenades

The Kurdish National Council (ENKS) office in al-Darbasiyah, northern Syria, was targeted with grenades by unknown assailants on Sunday.

“A group affiliated with the PYD carried out a grenade attack on the office of the ENKS in Darbasiyah on Sunday morning. The attack resulted in property damage in the office,” said Silêman Oso, a member of the group’s presidential council.

The Kurdish National Council was founded in Erbil on 26 October 2011 following the earlier creation of the Syrian National Council. The organization was originally composed of 11 Syrian Kurdish parties, however, by May 2012 this had grown to 15.

Several KNC parties have come into conflict with groups like the Democratic Union Party (PYD).

The KNC describes the PYD as dictators and tyrants and accuses them of betraying Kurds in Syria by working with Assad and replacing one dictatorship with their own.
