An attention-grabbing statement made by Trump's National Security Adviser amid questions is the US really pulling back from Syria, while Trump said the US is withdrawing from Syria.

John Bolton, National Security Adviser for President Donald Trump, made new remarks about their withdrawal from Syria.

Bolton said they do not want Turkiye to perform military operations in Syria without full cooperation with Washington.

He told reporters that American forces would remain in Syria until Turkiye provided guarantees that it would not strike YPG forces allied with the United States.

Speaking to Reuters, a senior US foreign ministry official said the withdrawal plan for US troops in Syria is not yet tied to a timetable.

He noted that the United States has not set a timetable for withdrawing its troops in Syria, but has no intention of owning a permanent military presence in Syria.

Speaking to the agency, the US diplomat said it could take months to withdraw.
