Turkey slams Egypt for condemning its operations in North Iraq

In a written statement, the spokesperson of the Turkish Foreign Ministry Hami Aksoy slammed Egypt over the statement of Egyptian Foreign Ministry concerning its Claw-Eagle and Claw-Tiger operations in North Iraq

“We reject the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, which condemns the Operations "Claw-Eagle" and "Claw-Tiger" targeting PKK that has been terrorizing our citizens and the Iraqis from its hideouts in northern Iraq for decades and accuses our country as the source of regional instability,” Aksoy said.

He emphasized that denouncement of Turkey’s counter terrorism operations by those who have overthrown their elected government and have threatened to intervene in Libya to support another coup plotter Hafter, is tragicomic.

“Such irresponsible statements are attempts that serve PKK terrorists, rather than the brotherly people of Iraq whom we have always supported,” he underlined.

“It should be kept in mind that, PKK terrorist organization also threatens the stability, security and territorial integrity of Iraq.”

“As Turkey, we are committed to standing by the Iraqi people whose fundamental rights have been usurped by the PKK terrorist organization and its supporters, and to fighting against terrorism with determination,” he concluded.
