Turkey to step up coronavirus testing

During an address to parliament on Wednesday, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said that Turkey would step up coronavirus testing to reach up to 15,000 people per day.

He stated that more than 10,000 COVID-19 tests had been completed until today in Turkey

"We believe the number of tests will increase even more. We aims to conduct at least 10-15,000 tests per day," he added.

The coronavirus case was officially confirmed on March 11 in the country. Minister Koca reported on Tuesday the first death from the coronavirus, an 89-year-old patient, while the number of confirmed cases rose to 98.  

On Monday, He announced the second death from coronavirus, a 61-year-old male patient, adding that the number of confirmed cases rose to 191 with 93 new cases.
