Turkish chief of staff Akar meet Iranian counterpart Bakıri

Turkiye’s Chief of Staff Hulusi Akar met with Iranian Chief of General Staff Mohammad Bakıri in Tehran.

“We will strive to expand political and economic relations, as well as military cooperation, between the two countries,” said Akar, also added that they will continue to be in a close relationship including regional issues, border security, and in combating terrorism.

“I hope this visit will lead to further strengthening of military cooperation between the two countries,” said Iranian Chief of Staff Bakıri.

During the meeting, Bakıri emphasized the need to preserve Iraq's territorial integrity, “We have discussed the Kurdistan Region in Iraq who held a referendum as well as common threats.”

“The issue of the fight against terrorism, border security, and the two countries military cooperation took part in the talk. Exchanged views on issues such as humanitarian assistance to innocent Muslims those were exposed to violence in Myanmar. We will testify to further cooperation in joint exercises. After the visit of President Erdoğan to Tehran soon, the level of these relations will increase much more.”
