Turkish Defense Minister Akar meets with al-Mishri, president of Libya's High Council of State

Turkey’s Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar met with the chairman of the High Council of State of Libya Khalid al-Mishri paying a visit to Ankara.

“Akar met with the Chairman of the High Council of State of Libya Khalid al-Mishri paying a visit to Ankara. During the visit, Minister Akar emphasized that Turkey continues to support the brotherly Libyan people with the understanding of 'Libya belongs to Libyan people',” the Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Khalid al-Mishri has served as the Chairman of the High Council of State since 8 April 2018, an advisory body to the Government of National Accord founded in December 2015.

He is a member of the Justice and Construction Party, an organization affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.
