Turkish Health Ministry warns airlines about new China virus

Turkey's Directorate General of Border and Coastal Health warned airlines to take precaution against new China virus that has spread to several Chinese provinces, as well as countries including the US, South Korea and Thailand.

The Directorate warned airlines and ground handling companies operating flights from Istanbul airport to these countries to take precautions because of the rapidly spreading virus.

If infected passengers are detected at the airport, teams in special suits will immediately take the patient to the quarantine room. The patient will be referred to health institutions after the procedures at the airport, according to the Directorate.

Turkish Airlines operates 30 flights a week to China.

The warning comes as the death toll from the Wuhan coronavirus has risen to nine.

On the other hand, Chinese authorities are warning that the virus, which has been confirmed as transmittable from person to person, could mutate and spread further.
