Turkish jets hit PKK targets in Shingal

Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced Thursday that an airstrike conducted by Turkish Armed forces against PKK targets in Sinjar, in Iraqi Kurdistan region.

The Turkish Armed Forces conducted an air strike against PKK bases in Shingal and Mount Karajak region said Turkish Ministry of National Defense.

The statement issued by Turkish Armed Forces read that Turkish Armed Forces conducted an airstrike against PKK bases in the regions of Shingal and Mount Karajak, located in the north of Iraq.

"To neutralize the PKK/KCK/PYD/YPG and other terrorist elements; to eliminate terrorist attacks against our people and our security forces from the north of Iraq and to ensure our border security; under Article 51 of the United Nations Treaty, in accordance with our self-defense rights arising from international law, an airstrike conducted against the terrorist nests in the regions of Sinjar and Mount Karajak, located in the north of Iraq and used as a base by terrorists," the statement read.

"In the operation carried out, shelter, cave, tunnel, and warehouses belonging to terrorists who threaten our country, our nation and our border security were targeted," the statement added.
