Turkish police seize more than 20 kg of heroin in eastern Turkey

Three suspects were arrested on charges of drug trafficking in Turkey’s eastern Bitlis province on Thursday.

The heroin was seized during a search in a vehicle in Bitlis province, the Provincial Police Department said in a statement.

Three suspects, identified by initials M.Ö., A.D, and İ.A., were remanded in custody after being arrested at the scene by anti-drug police.

Turkey maintains strict laws against the use, possession, or trafficking of illegal drugs. If convicted under these offenses, one could receive a heavy fine or a prison sentence of 4 to 24 years.
