Two inmates released after 30 years of wrongful imprisonment in southeastern Turkey

Abdullah Zengin and İbrahim Halil Göv, who have been in prison for about 30 years, were released from Diyarbakır D-Type Prison on Sunday.

The families and friends gathered outside the prison to welcome Zengin and Göv, who were arrested in the Ceylanpınar district of Turkey’s Şanlıurfa province in 1992.

The state security court, the Turkish court which was established to try cases involving crimes against the security of the state, handed unjustly down life sentences to Zengin and Göv on fabricated charges in a trial falling short of international standards.
