Unemployment rate not changed in 2017

In 2017, the number of unemployed rose by 124,000 compared to the previous year became 3,454,000 persons. The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 10.9 percent.

According to TURKSTAT's labor statistics for 2017, the unemployment rate remained at 10.9 percent.

The number of those children above the age of 15 and unemployed in Turkiye increased by 124,000 persons compared to the previous year in 2017 became 3,454,000 people. The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 10.9 percent. The unemployment rate was 9.4 percent in men with 0,2 percentage points and 14.1 percent in women with 0.4 percent increase.

In the same year; the non-agricultural unemployment rate was estimated at 13 percent, unchanged compared to the previous year. The youth unemployment rate, which includes the 15-24 age group, became 20.8 percent with an increase of 1.2 percentage points, while 15-64 age group rate did not change and remained 11.1 percent.  

The employment rate was 47.1 percent

In 2017, the number of employed persons increased by 984,000 persons became 28,189,000 persons and the employment rate increased by 0.8 percentage points to 47.1 percent. The employment rate in males became 65.6 percent with an increase of 0.5 percentage points while it became 28.9 percent with a 0.9 percentage point increase in females.

The region with the highest unemployment rate was TRC3 (Mardin, Batman, Şırnak, Siirt)

The region with the highest unemployment rate was TRC3 (Mardin, Batman, Şırnak, Siirt) [South-East of Turkiye] with 26.9 percent and TR90 (Trabzon, Ordu, Giresun, Rize, Artvin, Gümüşhane) [North of Turkiye] with the lowest unemployment rate was 3.6 percent.

The highest employment rate belonged to TR82 (Kastamonu, Çankırı, Sinop) Region.
