US expects talks with Turkish officials over spy Brunson

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he expected discussions with Turkish officials this week over the fate of spy pastor Brunson, who has been under house arrest in Turkiye.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters in New York he expected talks with Turkish officials to take place this week to discuss US' spy Andrew Brunson’s fate, who has been under house arrest in Turkiye.

"He could be released this month. He should have been released last month, and he should be released today in fact. We have talked to the Turks. They know the expectations," Pompeo told reporters in New York.

The American Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper suggested that Pastor Andrew Brunson could be released at the trial on October 12.
