We must benefit from all Islamic accumulation: Qaradaghi

Speaking at the 3rd Scholars Meeting, Qaradaghi, the Secretary-General of the Int. Union of Muslim Scholars, pointed out that wahdat should be provided and that this could be the result of the use of all Islamic accumulation rather than a single sect

The 3rd Scholars Meeting organized by the Union of Scholars and Madrasahs (İttihad Al-Ulema) continues with the first session.

In the first session, which titled "the alliance between scholars, the responsibility of scholars and the necessity of forming a union" and moderated by Suat Yaşasın, Sheikh Ali Mohiuddin Al Qaradaghi, Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, delivered a speech on the "Development of Madrasahs in Terms of Curriculum and Content."

Qaradaghi, who said that he would make his speech in Arabic with the idea that it would be more useful, said as Prophet Muhammad had stated, we are "in a situation where all the wild animals attack us".

The reason for this was explained by the Prophet Mohammed said Qaradaghi and added, "This is the love of the world and fear of death. These are the source of problems."

"What we need is innovation and standing up again"

Stating that Muslims are moving away from Islam, Qaradaghi said, "This is not because of Islam, but because Muslims are far away from each other. What we need is the innovation and the standing up again. When we look at the later period of the Ottoman Empire, Muslims fight each other over nationalism. Positive nationalism in Islam turned into negative separatism during the last period. For this, a great awakening was needed. A great awakening has begun in Egypt, in Turkiye, and in the Indian subcontinent. Inviters have started to be established together with the Islamic movements. Different movements and communities have also emerged. Separatists and Muslim separating communities have emerged which lead to failure. This awakening began in the Arab world. Separatist movements emerged from Algeria, Libya, Egypt, and Yemen. In fact, these movements caused Muslims to fight Muslims, separatist to fight separatist. Some Sufi movements and people in Egypt turned out to be a separatist structure rather than the success of Islamic communities and Arab spring. They fell into a great chaos as in Yemen."

Stating that zionists and America have been in these lands for hundreds of years, he said that they caused a big separation in the Islamic Ummah.

The aim of the Zionists was to divide and cause more separation. We see that there are practices in the Gulf countries. Islamists or Sunni Islamists who didn't take a lesson from it, didn't do anything against it. They turned it into more separatist structures. There are negative effects. We saw it in the early 50-60s. Today, the Islamic world is a thousand times better than those days. 'I could say in Baghdad in the 70s that we could not see headscarved women'. That's what our sister Zeynep Ghazali said. There were no women in the headscarf in Cairo. We know what had done in Turkiye against the Arab language and against Islamic slogans. Praise be to Allah, today Turkiye has developed. Developed economically and politically. When we looked at 20-30 years back, we wouldn’t think this kind of conference could be organized. When we look at Malaysia, Indonesia, there is a serious awakening."

Underlining that Arab spring was not a strayed or a slapdash organization, Qaradaghi said, "The Arab Spring was a Revolution. This fight will end as they fought against France. I believe there are three factors to come to the desired situation: the first one is institutionalization, the improvement of the religious institutions, which is related to us. Religious institutions will be standing up with jurisprudence [ichtihat]. The emergence of jurisprudence will stand the religious institutions up. Our current situation witnessing that. All directions and communities are based on the Qur'an, even al-Qaeda, and even ISIS bases themselves on the Qur'an. So, how does that work? How can the Qur'an, which should unite all Ummah, be interpreted like this? How the Qur'an can be interpreted as separatism and division? We've been on this for a long time. Qur'an explains this as; we need to have a scale to understand the Qur'an. There are Beyyin verses in the Qur'an. "Allah has sent down the Qur'an in order to rule you with justice." In our practice, in our law, in our justice, we must compare with the Qur'an, so that we can eliminate the persecution."
