What is essential for us is our national security: Altun

Reacting to US President Trump's statement over Twitter, Turkish Presidential Communications President Fahrettin Altun said: "What is essential for us is our national security. Turkiye has no problem with Kurds.

Turkiye's Presidential Communications Head Fahrettin Altun responded to Donald Trump's tweets, which Trump said the US will devastate Turkiye economically if they hit Kurds and create a 20-mile safe zone.

Responding to Trump via social media accounts Altun underlined that national security is what essential for them. "This is what determines our fight against terrorism."

Adding that it doesn't matter for them whether the source of terrorism is ideological, religious or ethnic, Altun said terror is terror and must be eradicated at its source. "This is what Turkiye is doing in Syria."

"The state of the Republic of Turkiye is not the enemy of the Kurds, but a tutelary. Turkiye has no problem with Kurds. Our issue is with the PKK terrorist organization and its extensions in Syria," he noted.

Altun lastly stated that the PYD and YPG are a terrorist organization and that Turkiye will continue its fight against terrorism with determination.

Altun also retweeted a tweet of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan posted on June 26, 2015, that says: "I appeal to the whole world: whatever the cost, we will never allow the establishment of a state in the north of Syria, in the south of Turkiye."
