The accident took place on National Highway 8 at the Baithakhal area under Patharkandi police station in Karimganj district along the Assam-Tripura border, local sources reported.

The victims included five women and two children, police said, adding that the truck driver was recklessly driving and failed to control the vehicle to avoid the collision.
