Turkey's Ministry of Trade announced that 4 kilograms and 595 grams of cocaine were seized by Customs Enforcement teams in two separate operations at Istanbul airport.

According to the ministry, risk analysis studies were carried out through information systems by NarkoKim Regional Directorate personnel working within the Istanbul Airport Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate as part of anti-drug trafficking activities.

As a result of these analyses, two foreign passengers who arrived from Brazil were considered suspects for drug trafficking.

The individuals' suitcases were also examined using X-ray equipment and narcotics detector dogs. The suitcases were opened under the supervision of suspicious passengers after the dogs reacted.

2 kilos of 50 grams of cocaine were found in the first passenger's suitcase, glued to the bottom.

A search of the suspect's suitcase, which arrived a day later, also found that he had 2 kilos of 545 grams of cocaine.

In two cases, a total of 4 kilograms and 595 grams of cocaine were seized.

Customs Enforcement Teams also detained 7 individuals they identified as accomplices.
