After 6,573 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 1,405,414 in the country.

There are at least 3,390 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than, 1,196,374 patients have been discharged from hospital after being cured.

So far, at least 9,125,076 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 2,202,889 with 102,128,135 cases and more than 73,978,463 recoveries.
