"The EU is preparing to pay Turkey 50 million euros to improve the capacities of its coast guard, improve the conditions in migrant detention centers and help refugees to integrate," Maciej Popowski, the deputy director-general for EU enlargement policy, said.

The money will be paid from a budget allocated to prepare Turkey for its accession to the European Union and from a separate peace and stability fund, Popowski noted.

According to the figures from the EU, between January and September 2019, 46 thousand 546 migrants went to EU countries through Turkey.
