Israel, Jordan asked US to leave troops in Syria, Trump says
President Trump said that Israel and Jordan requested him to leave a limited number of troops in Syria.
US President Donald Trump said he wants to withdraw US troops from Syria completely, but Israel and Jordan requested that a group of US troops remain.
President Trump announced that he is planning to keep a limited number of troops in Syria to protect the oil fields there and put forward that an American company might help the Syrian Kurds develop the oil for export.
“We’ll work something out with the Kurds so that they have some money, so that they have some cash flow. Maybe we’ll get one of our big oil companies to go in and do it properly.” Mr. Trump told reporters at a cabinet meeting Monday
