Fleeing from the civil war in Syria with his family took refuge in Gaziantep 7-year-old Ahmed Cuneydi is having hard times because of the kidney disease. The Cuneydi family are expecting a helping hand for the treatment of their son and want their son to play like other children.

The drama of the Syrian immigrants, who have to flee from the civil war in their country and have to take refuge in various countries, is heartbreaking. The Cuneydi family settled in Gaziantep 4 years ago, have tough times because of their health problems, as well as the suffering of the war.

Father Ali Cuneydi’s only request is that his son to get healthy again and that’s why he is expecting a helping hand.

Expressing that they are having difficult times since the begun of civil war, Cuneydi said: “This war has devastated us. Children separated from mother and mothers separated from children because of this war. We're having a very difficult time. We were all devastated.”

Adding that their house had collapsed in Syria and that is why they have to come to Turkiye, Cuneydi continued: “Everyone is looking at us with contempt because we fled from our country and took refuge in here. This situation saddens us. Having a country is different. A man has a value in his country but does not has in another country. Our house in Syria has been destroyed, our country has been ruined, and we can do nothing. We are continuing our life here because we have to.”

“Daddy, why cannot I play like other kids”

His only wish is his child to get healthy again, Cuneydi said: “I want my son to operate in Turkiye, but my income is not enough. We took him several times to the doctor, was partially cured. I even cannot buy his medicines. I have a desire from Allah and I want my son to play in the street and have fun like the other children. Sometimes he asks ‘daddy why I do not play like other children, why do not they use drugs, I use drugs, am I not like those children, what am I missing from them?"
