Iran reports 148 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours

Iran has reported 148 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 11,106, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari announced in her daily press conference on Thursday.

After 2,652 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 232,863 in the country.

There are at least 3,097 people are being treated in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 194,098 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, more than 1,719,451 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 519,582 with 10,834,159 cases and more than 6,053,982 recoveries.
